….The next piece of brilliance came in the shape of “A Random History of Rock ‘n’ Roll in Middle English by Geoff Chaucer Junior”, staged at The Resolution Concert Room, and in Middle English it certainly was, with Geoff being portrayed by Pete Morton, aided and abetted by various musicians including Chris Parkinson, and young Tom Moore from Norfolk on the fiddle. Medieval costumes were worn, and much jollity produced by a bright orange cockerel, who crowed if you moved too near it. This event was in the form of a mock radio programme being DJ’d by Nigel Schofield. The best songs were the chorus ones which we all joined in with, in Middle English of course, such as Goodness Gracious Great Balls of Fire (flambé in ME) and also Rock Around the Clock, and Wonderwall, as well as Honky Tonk Woman. Alas, I can’t recall the Middle English used for all these, but it really was brilliantly done, all from memory, and if you ever see it advertised at another festival then go!!
