Maggie Boyle

Through her singing, Maggie continues the tradition of music and storytelling handed down by her Irish family. She has accrued an impressive catalogue of live and recorded work. This includes film soundtracks, such as the title track for the movie 'Patriot Games', and theatre and folk circuit appearances worldwide. Maggie has worked with James Horner, The Chieftains, Bert Jansch, Rambert Dance Company, Incantation, Steve Tilston and John Renbourn.

Maggie now performs solo and with Paul Downes, and has duos with Gary Boyle, Chris Parkinson, Gordon Tyrrall, Jim Tigwell.

“she tackles largely traditional song with a full-blooded ardour that‘ll come as a shock to those weaned on the flaky New Age nonsense sold to us as Celtic music through most of the ’90s. Boyle gets right inside the songs in the uncompromising manner of the best storytellers.” - Colin Irwin, fROOTS

“One of the most striking things is the melodic strength throughout. The other is Boyle‘s ability to communicate...few are making records as good as “Gweebarra”, her best to date.“ - Duck Baker, DIRTY LINEN

“exquisite singing” - Mel Howley, LIVING TRADITION
