In April & May 2012, Maggie visited many of the songwriters who have played a significant part in her musical life. "It's been a wonderful experience, and I have gathered videos of our interviews and their songs. It's been especially thrilling for me to be able to sing their songs with them. I hope you will enjoy it all."
The first radio show documenting Maggie’s travels - made by David Crickmore - will be aired on BBC Radio Leeds at 6pm on Bank Holiday Monday, 27th August, with more to follow.
It does not stop there. Maggie has been invited to continue her Kitchen project at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, the huge traditional music festival in Cavan, Ireland. Returning to her Irish roots, she will track down singers, storytellers and musicians – including her uncle, Gerry Gorman.
A little later in the festival season, Maggie will interview performers in her kitchen at Whitby Folk Week. So lots more lovely chat and music will be available for viewing at the website by mid-September. All this, plus bonus videos, including a Woody Guthrie special by Will Kaufman. And after that…. we’ll have to wait and see what happens!
